The “Six Days of Ghent” is a track racing competition that’s been taking place in Ghent, Belgium, since 1922. Every year, the very best track racing cyclists compete for the victory in the legendary ‘Kuipke’ cycling stadium. The world-renowned track cycling event attracts tens of thousands of spectators annually, and with the high-speed nature of the races there’s always a potential risk of severe trauma for the cyclists, as well as the challenge of managing a large-scale evacuation in the event of an incident. Additionally, given the large and diverse audience—comprising attendees of all ages—medical interventions among the public are also common, ranging from acute illnesses to cases of intoxication.

Local emergency responders with the MedPrEvent group use the Beacon Emergency Dispatch platform to monitor on-site responders and ambulances in real time, ensuring that they can dispatch the fastest and most appropriate care to any incident, enhancing the efficiency of our response. Furthermore, during multidisciplinary collaborations with other emergency services, Beacon facilitates the rapid sharing of maps, including ingress and egress routes and specific layouts or blueprints of the event site. This significantly improves coordination and ensures all responders have access to the most up-to-date situational awareness.
