Iringa, Tanzania
Each month the local fire department meets with bodaboda motorcycle taxi drivers in Iringa to discuss the progress of their new community emergency response system, the latest program set up by Tanzania Rural Health Movement, in Tanzania, using our Beacon dispatch platform.
This innovative program replicates the model established in Mwanza, Tanzania, which relies on the bodaboda motorocycle taxi drivers to arrive on-scene quickly, secure the scene, assess the patient, and determine if the emergency will require patient transport via ambulance. Because ambulances are scarce in Tanzania, this innovative model helps to reduce unnecessary use of the ambulance while still ensuring rapid response by trained prehospital providers.
